<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article management system capable of specifying a retroactivity period of a lost article discovered in inventory check by recording execution information of inventory check on management information of an RFID tag attached to the article and performing efficient inventory check. <P>SOLUTION: The article management system 300 is constituted so as to be provided with a storage shelf (fixture) 40 having an antenna for reading/writing the management information recorded on the RFID tag stuck onto a back surface of a holder 30; a reader/writer 100 for performing reading/writing of the management information relative to the RFID tag; and PC (control means) 50 for controlling the reader/writer 100. The antennas 9, 9a provided in the storage shelf 40 and the reader/writer 100 are connected by a cable 44.
