PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer film that has a smooth cut end face having a low degree of roughening in the whole length of the film, causes neither cracks nor breaks at a cut end face when uniaxially oriented in the length direction and is suitable as a rolled web film in producing a polarizing film and to provide a method for cutting a film in order to obtain the film. SOLUTION: The polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer film has a cut end face with 50μm maximum height (Ry) in the length direction. The method for obtaining the film comprises cutting the polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer film in the length direction by using a rotary round blade. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
