PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve discharge characteristics, especially high rate discharge characteristics of a battery by preventing deterioration of electron conductivity of the negative electrode. SOLUTION: The alkaline battery comprises a negative electrode using a mixture containing an active material powder of zinc or zinc alloy, an alkaline electrolytic solution, and a positive electrode, and the particles of the active material powder are bonded by sintering or by a metal other than zinc.
