PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method for forming a stable image for a long time without changes in the image by environmental changes or without inducing image blur or stripe-type or speckle-type image defects. SOLUTION: The image forming method includes an electrostatic latent image forming step to form an electrostatic latent image on an electrostatic latent image carrying body, a developing step to develop the electrostatic latent image by using toner to form a visible image, a transferring step and a cleaning step. The electrostatic latent image carrying body comprises a supporting body and a photosensitive layer containing a charge generating layer, a charge transport layer and a crosslinked charge transport layer, successively layered in this order on the supporting body. The crosslinked charge transport layer contains a reaction product of a tri- or higher functional radical polymerizable compound and no charge transporting structure with a monofunctional radical polymerizable compound having a charge transport structure. The toner is obtained in a particulate state by the reaction of an active hydrogen group-containing compound with a polymer which is reactive with the active hydrogen group-containing compound in an aqueous medium to produce an adhesive base material.
