PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can eliminate defective images by preventing the inorganic oxide powder leaking out of the cleaner from adhering to the charging roller and the transfer roller, and extend the printing life of the photo conductor to obtain high quality images without fail. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus static charges the latent image carrier using a charging unit, exposes this carrier to light to form a latent electrostatic image, develops it with the toner carried by the toner carrier to form a toner pattern, transfers this toner pattern on the carrier to the transfer material using a transfer unit rotating in contact with this carrier, recovers the toner remaining on the latent image carrier after transferring by using a cleaner means, and fixes the transferred toner image on the transfer material by using a fixing means. The above charging unit has a high mold-releasing material on its surface, and the above transfer unit comprises a foamed material and has a skin layer on its surface. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
