PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a zoom lens which is low in cost, has the power variation ratio of≥2 and can excellently maintain an optical performance. SOLUTION: The zoom lens comprises a 1st group L1 with positive refracting power and a 2nd group L2 with negative refracting power in order from an object side; and the 1st group L1 comprises a 1st meniscus lens with negative refracting power and a 2nd biconvex lens with positive refracting power and the 2nd group L2 comprises only a 3rd lens group L2 with negative refracting power, the power being varied while the gap between the 1st group L1 and 2nd group L2 being narrowed down from the wide-angle end to the telephoto end.
