PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus wherein a driving circuit is simplified to reduce cost by drastically reducing the number of control lines. SOLUTION: In the image display apparatus provided with an image display plate 10 having a structure wherein an image display medium is packed between first and second substrates at least one of which is transparent and which are opposed to each other and displaying an image by matrix-driving the image display plate 10 by using a driving circuit 11, the driving circuit 11 comprises a power source circuit 12 producing a prescribed high voltage and an integrated circuit 13 for driving outputting the high voltage to an address corresponding to a display image on the image display plate 10 and the integrated circuit 13 for driving comprises a column driver 13a having lines corresponding to first to n-th columns, a row driver 13b having lines corresponding to first to n-th rows and a diode 13c and a resistance 13d which are to be a switching element provided corresponding to an intersection of each column and each row.
