PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine measuring instrument for finding engine torque in a short period of time, without depending on a stationary test. SOLUTION: This engine measuring instrument 1 is provided with: an engine 10; a dynamo meter 12; a central control part 5 for controlling a throttle opening and a load torque; a detector 2 for detecting a measuring data including at least an engine speed N of the engine 10 driven by the central control part 5, and an output torque T<SB>d</SB>; and a signal processing part 6 for measuring an engine torque T<SB>e</SB>, based on the measured data from the detector 2. The central control part 5 conducts control to measure a time-serial data of the engine speed N under a transition state fluctuated from the minimum value to the maximum value not to be stabilized in a constant value, and a time-serial data of the output torque T<SB>d</SB>varied stepwise in a transition state period, in the detector 2. The signal processing part 6 calculates a correction data, based on the engine speed N, subtracts the correction data from the output torque T<SB>d</SB>in every same time of the time-serial data, and calculates the engine torque T<SB>e</SB>.
