<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide caliper assembly designed to reduce a radial packaging space. <P>SOLUTION: The caliper assembly for a disc brake comprises a supporting bracket, a pair of sliding pins, and a caliper body. The supporting bracket has an inboard side rail and an outboard side rail. A pair of engagement bores are formed in the inboard side rail. The pair of sliding pins engage with the pair of engagement bores. The caliper body slidably engages with the pair of sliding pins. The caliper body has an inboard side portion and an outboard side portion. The inboard side portion and the outboard side portion have mutually balanced gravity centers when the caliper body is aligned to an engagement position between the sliding pin and the engagement bore in a substantially axial direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
