摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a passenger restraint device at a suitable timing in a front collision even if an output as expected cannot be obtained from a satellite sensor. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 6 for controlling an operation of an air back device 2 based on respective output signals S4, S5, S7 and S8 from the satellite sensors 4 and 5 disposed in a collision zone in the front part of a vehicle 1, a sensor 7 in the X direction for detecting the collision acceleration in the travel direction of the vehicle, and a sensor 8 in the Y direction for detecting the collision acceleration in the direction orthogonal to the travel direction. The control unit 6 has a selection output section for taking out the output signal having a larger value from output signals S40 and S50 from the satellite sensor 4 and 5 and an output signal S80 from the sensor 8 in the Y direction, and a determining section 9 for determining a collision of the vehicle 1 in response to the output signal S7 from the sensor 7 in the X direction.
