PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling an operation of an image sensor for avoiding a fault in a digital copier. SOLUTION: The method, when the image sensor stops due to a mechanical error or power interruption while moving along a scanning path in a certain direction and when the power is re-supplied (S100), includes a step (S110) of acquiring image information of an upper part of the image sensor by scanning the upper part of the stopped image sensor, a step (S120) of determining a position of the image sensor based on the image information, and a step (S140) of controlling the image sensor to move to a home position by moving the image sensor to a right side by a certain distance and re-scanning a home sensing label when the image sensor is located in the home position and at a left side of the home position (S130), or a step (S150) of controlling the image sensor to move toward the home position when the image sensor is located in a right side of the home position (S130).
