PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having low fog, high sensitivity and excellent image preservability. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material contains, on at least one surface of a support, at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, a development accelerator and a binder, wherein the development accelerator contains a compound represented by formula (1) wherein R<SP>a1</SP>and R<SP>a2</SP>each independently represents H, alkyl or aryl; R<SP>a3</SP>and R<SP>a4</SP>each represents H, alkyl or aryl; and R<SP>a5</SP>represents aryl, with the proviso that a total of the carbon numbers of R<SP>a1</SP>-R<SP>a5</SP>is not≤10.
