PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting control device capable of detecting a larger number of failure modes. SOLUTION: By turning on transistors (hereinafter, Tr) 21, 31 provided in upstream and downstream sides of a coil 9 of a starter relay 7 and supplying power to the coil 9 in a route of "a power source line 19 to which battery voltage is applied when an ignition switch is on→the Tr 21→a diode 17→a terminal 11→the coil 9→a terminal 13→the Tr 31→a ground", a starter motor 3 is activated. To monitor drain voltage VmH, VmL of each of the Tr 21, 31, an ECU 1 in which a drain of the Tr 21 is connected to the power source line 19 via a resistance 33 and a drain of the Tr 31 is connected to the ground via resistances 35, 36 determines that short circuit-failure of the terminal 11 to the battery voltage or on-failure of the Tr 21 occurs, if the engine is revolved when only the Tr 31 is turned on first at start of the starter motor 3.
