PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building material such as coating wall material, under-floor humidity control material and gypsum board economical and having excellent function (measure against sick house, humidity control property and deodorizing effect) in respect of environment for the purpose of positive recycling promotion of waste gypsum board at its early stage. SOLUTION: This building material is formed of a mixture of waste gypsum and porous flame resistant carbide or a mixture of the above mixture and baked gypsum formed by baking the waste gypsum. The building material enables waste gypsum of the building waste material to be recycled. Further, the porous flame resistant polycarbide is obtained by using the waste wood or wall paper of the building waste as base material, and forming a ceramic surface layer on the surface of the base material to have flame resistance and adsorb malodor and environmental contamination material such as formalin.
