PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a misfire determining device for an internal combustion engine accurately determining a misfire. SOLUTION: An ECU executes a program including a step (S116) temporary determining that a misfire occurs when the rotation fluctuationΔT of a crank shaft is larger than a misfire determining value decided in advance (YES in S114), a step (S118) calculating the rotation fluctuationΔTN of the crank shaft in a combustion process of a cylinder ignited next to a cylinder wherein the occurrence of the misfire is temporary determined, a step (S122) determining weather the rotation fluctuationΔTN is larger than the product of rotation fluctuationΔTN(0) in the case that the misfire does not occur and a predetermined coefficient K or not, and a step (S124) determining that the misfire actually occurs at the cylinder wherein the occurrence of the misfire is temporary determined when the rotation fluctuationΔTN is larger than the product of the rotation fluctuationΔTN(0) and the coefficient K.
