PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen residue decomposition device which can greatly reduce the wear of a ceramic ball due to agitation action while preventing the water absorbing property of the ceramic ball from being impaired. SOLUTION: In the screen residue decomposition device which comprises a treatment tank 3 for agitating ceramic balls 1 filled inside the treatment tank, together with screen residues 2, and a hot air feeder 4 for feeding hot air to the treatment tank 3, and performs the fermentative decomposition and drying treatment of the screen residues 2 separated from sewage 5, a coating layer 6 having an exposure part 7 exposing a part of the surface of the ceramic ball 1 and made of an elastic material is formed on the surface of the ceramic ball 1.
