LIQUID FUEL TYPE SOLID POLYMER FUEL CELL, ANODE ELECTRODE FOR IT, AND MEMBRANE ELECTRODE COMPLEX FOR IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anode electrode capable of exhibiting both the diffusibility and the crossover suppression of a liquid fuel for a liquid fuel type solid polymer fuel cell.

SOLUTION: In a liquid fuel diffusion layer, a porosity is 20-65%, a volume of pores within a diameter range of 50-800 nm is 30% of the whole pore volume of the liquid fuel diffusion layer, and a pore diameter distribution has a distribution peak for a pore diameter within a range of 100-800 nm. The liquid fuel diffusion layer includes a fiber type carrier catalyst 23 and a grain type carrier catalyst 26. The fiber type carrier catalyst includes a carbon nanofiber having a herringbone or platelet structure and catalyst particles carried by the carbon nanofiber. The grain type carrier catalyst includes carbon black grains and catalyst particles carried by the carbon black grains.
