PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for hydrogen storage which is made lower in hydrogen desorption initiation temperature and hydrogen desorption peak temperature and a production method thereof, and a method for storing hydrogen.

SOLUTION: The material for hydrogen storage has a mixture composed of a metal hydride and a metal amide compound and a reactant and is made to contain at least two or more kinds of metals. For example, lithium hydride is used as the metal hydride and magnesium amide and calcium amide are used as the metal amide compound.
