PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone with a camera capable of saving a lateral image as image data of a size suitable for a longitudinal display screen. SOLUTION: The portable telephone has a state detection portion 19 for detecting a first state wherein the liquid crystal screen of an LCD 15 is used as a longitudinal screen and a second state wherein the liquid crystal screen is used as a lateral screen, a camera module 17 wherein a image size at photographing is selectively set from at least two sizes of a first image size corresponding to the display size of the longitudinal screen and a second image size larger than the first image size, and a control portion 10 which makes the camera module 17 take a photograph with the second image size, cuts an image of the first image size out of the photographed image and saves it, if the second state is detected by the detection portion 19, when the camera module in a state of the first image size being set is started.
