PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically change a detuned noise picture to an alternative image when the television receiving is pulled out of synchronism and avoid making the alternative image oversize. SOLUTION: When a pull-out detector 23 detects pulling out of synchronism, a controller 10 reads a unit pattern image formed so as to randomly give drive levels of display dots composed of combined three elements RGB on a display 18 out of a memory 24, and sends it to a display controller 19 to show the unit pattern image on the screen of a unit size provided on the display 18. When the screen of an expanded size is provided on the display 18, it shows an expanded pattern image composed of repetitively longitudinally and transversally arranged unit pattern images.
