PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method that follows up an object to be recognized even through a processing system whose computer resources are limited and uses a solid primitive facilitating the movement tracing. SOLUTION: The image processing method comprises: acquiring a plurality of images obtained by photographing the object to be recognized (step S1); restoring the object to be recognized in three dimensions from the images (steps S3 and S4); applying the solid primitive to the restoration result (step S5); extracting a feature element, whose direction nearly matches the main axis direction of the solid primitive, in the three-dimensional restoration result (step S6); tracing movement of the extracted featured element in each image (steps S7 and S10); restoring the featured element in three dimensions based upon positions of the featured element obtained as a tracing result in the respective images (step S11); and applying the solid primitive to the restored featured element to trace the movement of the object to be recognized in an image (step S12).
