PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a backflow of oil without providing a complicated oil return passage and a special partition wall, in a breather device for an engine in which blowby gas discharged from a crankcase provided in an engine main body is introduced to a gas-liquid separating device and oil separated from the blowby gas in the gas-liquid separating device is returned to the crank case side. SOLUTION: A change chamber 31 storing part of a change mechanism 30 is formed between a change cover 32 mounted on a side wall outer face of the crank case 8 and the side wall outer face of the crank case 8, and a communication hole 49 communicating a lower part in the change chamber 31 with inside of the crank case 8 is provided on a side wall of the crank case 8. The gas-liquid separating device and the change cover 32 are connected with each other via a pipe line for introducing oil separated in the gas-liquid separating device to the change chamber 32.
