<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate capable of preventing the lowering of the degree of polarization even when it is preserved under high temperature and high humidity and the polarizing plate being excellent in a surface state. <P>SOLUTION: In the polarizing plate protection film manufacturing method with which cellulose acylate film containing hydrophobe whose molecular weight is ≥200 and ≤1000 by ≥2 pts. mass and ≤30 pts. mass to 100 pts. mass of cellulose acylate is saponified by alkaline water solution, the substitution degree of cellulose acylate which has been saponified and the abundance of the hydrophobe satisfy following relation. The relation includes 0<Ao/Ai<1.0 and 0<Ri/Ro<1.0, provided that Ao: the degree of acylation of the cellulose acylate in an area within 0.1μm in depth from the surface, Ai: the degree of acylation of the cellulose acylate in an area ≥2μm in depth from the surface, Ro: the abundance of a low molecular compound in the area within 0.1μm in depth from the surface, and Ri: the abundance of the low molecular compound in the area ≥2μm in depth from the surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
