PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which is a reflective mode display device with low power consumption and which is suitable for reproducing a moving picture. SOLUTION: The display device has a flat plate shaped back electrode 2 parallel to the display surface, a plurality of display elements 1 two-dimensionally disposed on the back electrode 2, and a plurality of surface electrodes 3 disposed on the respective display elements 1. Each of the respective display elements 1 is composed of a dielectric multilayer film laminated in a direction normal to the display surface. The dielectric multilayer film is composed of at least two kinds of dielectrics.
