PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small endoscope that minimizes a bias of an illuminated area of a photographic subject and a variation in the illumination intensity of the photographic subject caused by a change in distance between an imaging optical system and the photographic subject. SOLUTION: An endoscope 10 has an illuminant 30 emitting light; the imaging optical system having at least image pickup lenses 64, 65, 66, 67, and 68 for imaging the light emitted from the illuminant 30 and reflected by a photographic subject 18; an imaging section 96 converting light focused by the imaging optical system into an electric signal; an optical guiding body 54 guiding the light emitted from the illuminant 30 to the direction of the photographic subject 18 and formed around the imaging optical system; and an illumination lens 16 arranged closer to the photographic subject 18 than the optical guiding body 54 is and around the image pickup lens 64, and having a plurality of lens sections 90 outputting light emitted from the illuminant 30 to the photographic subject 18.
