IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND DESTATICIZING DEVICE USED FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively perform destatisization of a belt member which is disposed at the upper stream of the transfer means to a recording medium and which carries and conveys a toner image. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: the endless belt member 1 turnably stretched by a plurality of stretch members 5 and used for carrying and conveying a formed toner image T; a transfer means 7 for transferring the toner image T on the belt member 1 onto a recording material 6; and a destaticizing device 2 for removing electrostatic charges of the belt member 1. The destaticizing device 2 is disposed at the upstream of the transfer means 7 and includes: two conductive members 3 (3a and 3b) disposed apart from each other in the advancing direction of of the belt member 1 and in contact with the rear surface of the belt member 1; and a bias application means 4 for applying a destaticization bias to remove the electrostatic charges of the belt member 1 between the two conductive members 3a and 3b.
