PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate fitting of a permanent magnet to the motor housing of a permanent magnet by a set spring in an electric motor while preventing wear of the permanent magnet due to the set spring. SOLUTION: In the electric motor where a pair of minor arcuate permanent magnets 5 and 5 are arranged on the inner circumferential surface of a motor housing 4, and a set spring 31 is provided while being compressed between the opposing end faces 5a and 5a of both permanent magnets 5 and 5 in order to pressure hold the permanent magnets 5 and 5 on the inner circumferential surface of the motor housing 4, the set spring 31 is composed of a resilient wire to have a U-shaped bend 31a and a pair of arm parts 31b and 31b extending substantially in parallel from th opposite ends of the bend 31a. The set spring 31 is inserted between the opposing end faces 5a and 5a of the permanent magnets 5 and 5 and the free ends 31ba and 31ba of both arm parts 31b and 31b are left as knobs on the outside of one axial end face of the permanent magnets 5 and 5.
