PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejection head capable of enhancing the durability and stability of a heating resistor, and thereby a liquid ejection head, without complicating the shape of region of the heating resistor. SOLUTION: The liquid ejection head comprises a heater resistor RH for heating liquid in a channel (not shown) communicating with an ejection opening (not shown) to generate a bubble, and a switch circuit SW for turning current supply to the heater resistor RH on/off. One end of the heater resistor RH is connected with a power supply potential VH, one end of the switch circuit SW is connected with the ground potential GNDH, and the other ends of the heater resistor RH and the switch circuit SW are connected with each other. The liquid ejection head further comprises a detection circuit 10 for detecting the voltage Va at the joint of the heater resistor RH and the switch circuit SW and delivering an output signal S1 upon occurrence of a predetermined variation in the voltage Va, and a switch control circuit 11 for controlling on/off of the switch circuit SW depending on the output signal S1 from the detection circuit 10.
