<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for avoiding image roughness due to charging shortage, by reducing stress applied on toner in a development apparatus to the utmost. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a developing means for visualizing an electrostatic latent image, a cleaning means for collecting remaining toner on an image carrier, a first toner transport means for transporting the collected toner to the developing means, a second toner transport means for transporting the residual toner to a collection container, a switching means for switching transport of the remaining toner to the first toner transport means or the second toner transport means, and a third toner transport means for transporting the toner of a toner supply container to the developing means. The image forming means switches the switching means, in response to a ratio of an integrated value of a drive time of the developing means in a past and constant period to an integrated value of a toner amount supplied to the developing means by the third toner transport means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
