PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable operating device having operating sections or display sections or the operating sections and the display sections on both surfaces and rears of a first box body and a second box body and capable of being changed over in response to functions. SOLUTION: The portable operating device has a connecting section foldably connecting the first box body and the second box body, to which the operating sections or the display sections or the operating sections and the display sections are mounted respectively. In the portable operating device, the first box body and the second box body can be rotated at 180°or more respectively centering around the orthogonal directions to axes regarding the folding of each box body in the connecting section. The operating sections or the display sections or the operating sections and the display sections correspond to different functions respectively, and are mounted on surfaces capable of being opposed in the case of the folding.
