PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optically connect optical fibers, be machinable on site, and reducible in size at low cost. SOLUTION: An optical fiber connector is used to optically connect a pair of optical fibers with their tips opposing each other. The optical fiber connector is formed of a material having a higher thermal deformation temperature than that of the coverings 12 of the optical fibers 10. The connector has a positioning guide hole 22 for inserting therein the optical fibers 10 and also has fiber-fixing groove portions 23 circumferentially formed in the wall of the guide hole 22. When the coverings 12 of the optical fibers 10 are thermally deformed, parts of the coverings 12 bite the groove portions 23, whereby the optical fibers 10 are fixed in the guide hole 22.
