摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily improve response characteristics of an alignment division vertical alignment type liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a 1st substrate 100a, a 2nd substrate 100b, and a vertical alignment type liquid crystal layer 30 provided between them. In each pixel region, a 1st electrode 14 provided on the 1st substrate 100a on the side of the liquid crystal layer 30 has a solid part 14a formed of a conductive film and a non-solid part 14b where no conductive film is formed and the liquid crystal layer 30 has its alignment restricted with an oblique electric field produced on the non-solid part 14b of the 1st electrode 14 when a voltage is applied. The liquid crystal layer 30 on the solid part 14a of the 1st electrode 14 has a 1st region having a 1st thickness d<SB>1</SB>and a 2nd thickness d<SB>2</SB>less than the 1st thickness d<SB>1</SB>and also has a 2nd region located nearby the non-solid part 14b.
