PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll compressor which offers overall isentropic efficiency and high reliability in a wide pressure operation range. SOLUTION: The scroll compressor is provided with a back pressure control valve which opens and closes in response to a difference between pressure in a back pressure chamber provided to the back of a revolving scroll and suction pressure in a compression chamber, and a by-pass hole for communicating between the compression chamber and the discharge chamber when pressure in the compression chamber is higher than discharge pressure. While fluid flowing into a discharge chamber is discharged from a discharge pipe, a part of the fluid flows in the back pressure chamber to press the revolving scroll onto the fixed scroll side by pressure of the fluid.
