PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a freight vessel easy to handle its pontoon hatch even if the vessel is of large size, broad-beamed and assuring a high degree of freedom in mixed loading with heavy loads. SOLUTION: The freight vessel is structured so that an upper hold 2 and a lower hold 1 are divided by a second deck 3, the pontoon hatch 4 is installed at the opening in the second deck 3, and a hatch 6 is provided in the upper hold 2, wherein decks 14 for the holds are provided on the second deck 3 at the left and right sides of the hatch 6, and further a deck hold 21 and a second deck hold 22 of double decker structure are provided. At the hatch side ends of the deck holds 21 and 22, pillars 13 are installed at a certain spacing in the hull longitudinal direction, wherein the pillars 13 consist of stationary pillar and movable pillar.
