PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a position/posture detecting system for capsule type medical devices for correctly detecting a direction and a position of a main body of a capsule type medical device without affecting a rotating magnetic field magnetically inducing the main body of the capsule type medical device. SOLUTION: The position/posture detecting system 1 for capsule type medical devices is equipped with a main body 3 of a capsule inserted in vivo, a coil 42 inside the capsule which is provided in the main body 3 and constitutes a resonance circuit 40, and a position/posture detector 9 which is placed around the living body and detects the changes of the magnetic field generated by the coil 42. Preferably, the position/posture detector 9 includes an excitation coil array generating an alternating current magnetic field for generating an inductive magnetic field to the coil 42 and a detecting coil array detecting magnetic field intensity of the inductive magnetic field generated by the coil 42.
