<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode having good oxygen ion conductivity at an intermediate temperature region and to improve the performance of a fuel cell in an intermediate temperature region. <P>SOLUTION: The cathode 114 is formed by coating in multiple layers a composite composed of a compound oxide B having mainly oxygen ion conductivity carrying an oxygen dissociation promoting catalyst C and an inorganic material A having mainly electron conductivity on an electrolyte membrane 112. The outermost layer (mixture layer farthest separated from the electrolyte membrane 112) of the cathode 114 opposed to the separator 120 and the electrolyte membrane 112 are communicated physically and electrically through the compound oxide B and the inorganic material A arranged in the midst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
