<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having excellent luminance and visibility and made thin and light in weight by realizing a directive diffusing sheet constituted by arraying columnar lenses whose cross-sectional shape on a plane has directivity in a longitudinal direction. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a liquid crystal panel and a polarizing plate provided on a display observation surface side, and the directive diffusing sheet constituted by arraying a plurality of columnar lenses where an area having a higher refractive index than a peripheral area is continuously formed in a thickness direction on the plane and guiding light in the thickness direction. The cross-sectional shape on the plane of the columnar lens has directivity in the longitudinal direction and the columnar lenses are uniformly arrayed so that the directivity may be nearly parallel with one side constituting the display surface of the liquid crystal panel. Furthermore, a tilt angle in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the columnar lens is set to 10 to 45° to a perpendicular on the surface of the directive diffusing sheet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
