PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a profiling method and a profiling tool to profile a grinding worm having at least an arbitrary 3D modification width band. SOLUTION: In a grinding worm 1 for continuously grinding a workpiece, the grinding worm 1 has a rough grinding band 4 and a finish grinding band 6 arranged in the axis direction of the grinding worm 1, at least the finish grinding band 6 has a 3D modification positive tooth flank shape, and the rough grinding band 4 and the finish grinding band 6 overlap each other in the axis direction.
