PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothed belt for automobile in which no abnormal noise is generated at a specified engine speed. SOLUTION: A belt tooth has a dedendum part, a tip part, and opposing projecting arc-shaped side parts extending from the tip part. The belt dedendum part is demarcated at least partially by first and second arcs close to the arc extending in the corresponding side parts on both sides of the center line of the belt tooth. A belt recessed part has a base part in which the first arc of each tooth is connected to the second arc of the next continuous tooth. The base part is matched with the belt land line forming the same line as the base part of other belt recessed parts on the belt at the longitudinal section. The belt tooth has the height H to be measured between a terminal end of the tooth top end part and the belt land line, and the width W to be measured between the opposing side parts along the line parallel to the belt land line and including the point at which the first and second arcs are intersected with the side parts.
