PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a removing method for benzoic acid by using a solvent which has compatibility with benzoic acid, is incombustible, and is outside of regulatory control on handling. SOLUTION: This removing method for benzoic acid comprises contacting an article, the surface of which is deposited with benzoic acid, with a mixed solvent comprising a fluorine-based solvent consisting of 1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6-tridecafluorohexane, 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl ether, or the like, and alcohols such as ethanol, and removing the benzoic acid from the article.
