PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper folding machine capable of transferring paper at constant speed without dislocating the paper, changing a feeding direction and carrying out smooth folding work. SOLUTION: A large number of recessed surfaces 2 and protruded surfaces 3 are formed on a contact surface with the paper P of a base parent material 1 made of metal, and projected head ends of parts of the protruded surfaces 3 out of the large number of recessed surfaces 2 and the protruded surfaces 3 are polished and removed. Thereafter, a flat surface type sliding surface 5 is formed on the parts of the protruded surfaces 3 by forming a surface film 4 by applying galvanizing coating to increase surface hardness on the base parent material 1 projected leading ends of which are removed so that the recessed surfaces 2 and the protruded surfaces 3 remain after the galvanizing coating and polishing projected leading ends 4a of the parts of the protruded surfaces 3 out of the galvanized recessed 2 and protruded surfaces 3.
