PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for applying creamy foods which are adaptable to the mass-production and can perform an overcoat so as to change a coating thickness by using a single applicator. SOLUTION: The applicator 2 for applying the creamy foods is provided with: a placing base 6 for placing an object to be coated with the creamy food; a rotation mechanism for rotating the placing base 6 in the horizontal direction; a discharge mechanism 9 for discharging the food in a fixed quantity per unit time to the object from a nozzle 8; and a moving mechanism 10 for moving the position of the nozzle 8. The applicator 2 is further provided with a control means for moving the nozzle by the moving mechanism 10 and for switching the number of the rotation of the rotation mechanism to rotate the placing base 6 after the placing base 6 is rotated once by the rotation mechanism, thus the foods are discharged from the nozzle 8 arranged in a position facing the surface of the object and the placing base 6 is rotated while changing the speed.
