PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous material in the pore of which an adsorptive substance and a reactive substrate can be diffused rapidly and which is useful as an adsorbing material, a separating material, a catalyst carrier, or the like, particularly, as an excellent air purifying material for removing an environmental pollutant such as NOx or a toxic substance such as VOC (volatile organic compound) in the air. SOLUTION: The porous material is constituted so that hyperfine fibers of a metal oxide are agglomerated to form secondary pores having 1-20 nm central pore diameter (the pore diameter at the maximum peak in a pore diameter distribution curve).
