PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element washing method capable of washing a filter element contaminated with dirt, milk fat, or the like, repeatedly without causing the irregularity of a washing effect to certainly remove dust, lumps of skin milk powder, or the like, and being regenerated for repeated reuse, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: The filter element washing method is applied for washing a cylindrical reticulated filter element to be washed and includes a process (1) for ejecting washing water to the peripheral surface of the element to be washed from the inside by a high pressure jet nozzle, a process (2) for subsequently ejecting washing water to the element to be washed from two washing nozzles fixed above the element to be washed, a process (3) for next ejecting alkali washing water to the inside/outside of the peripheral surface of the element to be washed by two washing nozzles fixed above the element to be washed.
