The block has two longitudinal sides situated on sides of a cylindrical bore (3), where each longitudinal side comprises of two longitudinal reinforcement lines (5, 15). Each line is constituted of a double wall with a split located on a partition forming the corresponding longitudinal side. The double walls have thickness in the order of 4 to 5 millimeters and are spaced at a distance between 15 to 30 millimeters. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine comprising a cylinder block.
