PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a two-way turning movement detecting device capable of detecting the turning movement of a member rotating around axes in two directions intersecting to each other, which can be assembled to various devices easily, and to obtain a shift lever device capable of detecting the rotational movement of a shift lever rotating around axes in two directions intersecting to each other, and furthermore, capable of simplifying the installation of a structure detecting the rotational movement thereof and permitting overall miniaturization. SOLUTION: In the sensor unit 130 of this shift lever device, a rotary disc 138 detecting the rotational movement of a shaft 30, a magnet 182, and a magnetic sensor 188 are provided outside a side wall 16. Furthermore, a plunger 164 detecting the rotational movement of a body 36 around a shaft 46, a rotary disc 162, a magnet 184, and a magnetic sensor 190 are also provided outside the side wall 16 in the same way as the rotary disc 138. Thus, the plunger 164, the rotary discs 138, 162, the magnets 182, 184, and the magnetic sensors 188, 190 can be unitized as in the embodiments, and the installation thereof to a housing 12 can be simplified.
