A level (10) configured to facilitate handling during use is disclosed. The level includes element-contacting means (80), level-indicating means (81) mounted with respect to the element-contacting means, and a substantially cylindrical handle portion (82) mounted with respect to the element-contacting means. In preferred embodiments, the level-indicating means is mounted in the cylindrical handle portion. A preferred embodiment has a body which includes a cylindrical portion (20) and a trapezoidal portion (40) connected at an interface, one or more vials (49) mounted in the body at a predetermined angular relationships to a face (41) of the level, and at least one or more hand-grip apertures (13) formed in the trapezoidal portion adjacent to the cylindrical portion to allow a user to grip the cylindrical portion. |
