OPTICAL DISK AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

An optical disk (10) comprises a substrate (11) composed of a resin-impregnated paper comprising a paper impregnated with a resin or a resin-coated paper comprising a paper coated with a resin and a recording layer (13) formed on at least one side of the substrate (11). Such an optical disk (10) has performance equivalent to those of conventional optical disks. Even when the optical disk is discarded, the influence on the environment is slight. A method for manufacturing an optical disk is also disclosed which comprises a recording layer sheet fabricating step of forming a track on a recording layer base to fabricate a recording layer sheet and a recording layer sheet bonding step of bonding a resin-impregnated paper or a resin-coated paper to the recording sheet so as to provide a recording layer (13) composed of the recording sheet on a substrate (11) composed of the resin- impregnated paper or the resin-coated paper. According to such an optical disk manufacturing method, an optical disk (10) can be produced inexpensively.
