An amusement ride (1) includes a central unit (10) that rotates about a central axis and a plurality of carriages (5a-d) positioned circumferentially around and pivotably coupled to the central unit. The amusement ride further includes an arrangement for inducing the plurality of carriages to oscillate in a substantially vertical direction as the carriages revolve around the central axis.
