The invention relates to a method for applying a covering element to at least a portion of the surface of an object while using a fixing means for fixing this covering element to the surface of the object. To this end, the fixing means used consists of a transparent curable resin of a predetermined viscosity and, the covering element used consists of an element that is permeable to the resin in such a manner that, when applied to the surface of the object, the covering element is impregnated with said resin and that this resin is in contact with the surface of the object. Preferably, the resin (18 to 20) is transferred to the covering element in a closed environment, the resin, the surface of the object, and the covering element are held in a closed environment for the entire duration of the curing of the resin (21), and the resin is transferred to the covering element and to the surface of the object while applying a depression around the covering element.
